In this afternoon's scorching sun, I was very pleased to view this female Long-tailed Blue. From earlier searches of the garden during the day she was not present, so with egg laying in progress when first found, it suggests she set to work on immediately on arrival. The sprawling nature of the BLEP will make an egg count difficult to undertake. Hopefully September will bring some garden new borns. In an update from my 8 August sighting, the male was not seen again after taking the photograph so must have continued onward with its Sussex journey.
