I have received a report, from Sean Barriskill, of a Wood White in his Plaistow garden on June 1st. Indeed, Sean says he is quite familiar with them in his garden! This is not so surprising as Plaistow is very close to the well-established Wood White colonies at Hog Wood and Birchfold Copse. This year and last there have been garden Wood Whites in Plaistow, Ifold, Billingshurst and Wisborough Green. So, for anyone with a garden in this region it would be worth paying special attention to garden Whites in July and August. This record is especially pleasing as Sean made the report as a result of seeing one of David Bridges excellent postcards advertising the Wood White Project.
